The rules of the field. They apply when you play Castle Lanes online, create a Castle Lanes account or use the account pages.

1. Who provides Castle Lanes
Castle Lanes is developed and run by Igor Tverdokhleb, Barkentinenstr. 20, 23558 Lübeck, Germany (see the imprint). Contact: [email protected]. How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.
2. Early access
Castle Lanes is unfinished and in early access. During early access the game, the launcher and online play are free. Expect bugs, balance changes, resets of match statistics for balancing or technical reasons, and features that come and go.
A Castle Lanes account created during early access gives you early access to online play until the game's release. When the game is released, early access ends: your account, its name, history and replays remain, but playing the released game needs a purchase (for example on Steam or directly from us, as offered at the time). Early access does not include a free copy of the released game.
Matches against the computer on your own computer, and the tutorial, work without an account.
3. Your account
You can create an account with an email address and a password, or with your Google account. You need to be at least 16 years old, or have the permission of a parent or guardian.
One person, one account. Keep your password and sign-in secret and tell us if you think someone else uses your account. You are responsible for what happens with your account unless you could not have prevented it.
Your display name must not impersonate others, be offensive or advertise. We may reset a name that breaks this rule.
You can delete your account at any time on account.castle-lanes.com; it is erased as described in the privacy policy.
4. Invitation codes
During early access, registering needs an invitation code. Once your address is confirmed you get your own code, which you may give to anyone. Do not sell codes or publish them in a way meant to get around the invitation. We may revoke a code, for example one that is being misused; accounts that already joined with it keep their access.
5. Fair play
You may not:
cheat, for example with modified clients, bots, automation that plays for you, or by exploiting bugs on purpose to win or to harm other players (report bugs instead; we are grateful for them);
attack, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the servers or the API beyond what normal play does, or get around rate limits, invitations or access rules;
harass, threaten or insult other players, or post illegal content in chat, names or anywhere else in the game;
sell, trade or share accounts.
6. Names, chat and replays
Your display name, chat messages and your play are seen by the other players of a match. Online matches are recorded as replays (see the privacy policy); you may share replay links. By playing online you allow us to store, show and share these replays, including on the website and in the game, for as long as they are kept.
The game, its art, music, texts and code belong to us or our licensors. You may stream and record your play and publish videos and screenshots of Castle Lanes, also monetised.
7. The service
We run the servers on a best-effort basis. Especially during early access, online play, the account service or single features may be unavailable, changed or switched off, and data such as statistics may be reset. We announce major changes on castle-lanes.com where we can.
8. Ending and suspension
You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may warn, suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after weighing your interests; for serious breaches (such as cheating or attacks on the servers) without warning. We may end online play of the early access with reasonable notice.
9. Liability
Castle Lanes is free during early access. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence we are liable only for breaches of essential obligations (those that make using the service possible at all and on which you may rely), limited to the damage typical and foreseeable for this kind of service. Otherwise our liability is excluded.
10. Changes and law
We may change these terms for the future, for example when features are added or at the release. We tell account holders about important changes by email or in the game at least four weeks before they apply; if you keep playing after that, the new terms apply, and you can delete your account before that instead.
German law applies, without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection of the country where you live remains unaffected. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.
